There are a lot of motor vehicle accidents that occur each year simply because one of the people involved didn’t get enough sleep before getting behind the wheel.

A 2007 study revealed just how serious of a problem insufficient sleep is. Researched closely examined data taken from more than 10,000 different participants over a period of 11-17 years. This study found that people who go from sleeping 7 hours each night to just 5 face a significantly higher risk of death from cardiovascular problems.

Similar conclusions were drawn from a 2010 study review in which researchers examined data from 16 individual studies that included over one million people. This study review revealed that sleeping less on a regular basis came with a far greater risk of death.
